Ausangate Trek 3 Days – Trip Overview
We begin of our Ausangate and Rainbow Mountain Vinicunca with the pick up from your hotel at 4.00 am and head towards Pacchanta in our private vun, we will take the road to Puerto Madonado. We will arrive at the small town of Tinke from where our private vun will take us to Pacchanta where a rich breakfast will be waiting for us, from here we will see the Ausangate Mountain by the main North face. We will get ready to then start our hike seeing very beautiful landskipes. From here we will have views of Ausangate Peak (6,384 m.).
We will continue the walk of Ausangate Vinicunca we will begin the ascent to the first Arapa Pass (4,800 m.), We will continue with a descent until we reach the Yanacocha Lagoon, Huchuy Pucacoha Lagoon that is 45 minutes from the Camp. From this point, we can see fabulous views of all the snowy peaks in the area. We camp and have dinner right in front of Ausangate and Hatun Pucacocha Lagoon. Here we will see the stars and hear the animals scream.
We will begin the ascent towards the Apacheta Pass (4,989 m.). For this it is recommended to have breakfast very well, we will begin the ascent at 7.30 am, the ascent will last 1 hour and 20 minutes, reaching this step we will see the most beautiful panorama of the Ausangate Snowy. We will walk about 30 minutes at the Top, we will take photos, we breathe the purest air of the Andes and we will begin to descend towards the Anantapata camp.
Arriving Amorzaremos, install our stores and see the sunset. We will see how the animals (Alpacas, llamas and sheep) arrive at their huts for the night. After a magnificent and adventurous walk we will have dinner at 6.30 pm and get ready for the rest and then in the morning leave early for Vinicunca and arrive very early before people arrive.
After our breakfast we walk past beautiful landscapes, where South American camelids (alpacas, llamas, Andean birds, etc.) inhabit 1.30 hour walk. Until the place called Vinicunca (5,034 m.), From where we will observe the impression of Mountain of Colors with the sunrise, it shows its best imposing valley and hills of magical colors that only exist in this place of Peru. Around we will observe the mountains that accompany (apu sarinini, Ausangate mountain) Ausangate the highest mountain in Cusco with a height of 6,384 m.
