Sacred Valley Tour & One Day Inca Trail: Perfect 2-Day Itinerary

We have observed that there is a lot of conflict between a simple ride in the train and a fruitful hike. What if you could enjoy both? The two-day itinerary with the Sacred Valley and One-day Inca Trail is the cheat code to the most recognized spot in South America.

The itinerary is a mix of the agricultural wonders of the Inca heartland, as well as the excitement of traversing the last and most beautiful part of the original trail, finishing at a sunset view of Machu Picchu, as many tour operators do not offer this.

Day 1: The Sacred Valley’s Heart

This trip departs Cusco at 8:00 AM, making the Andes crossing before reaching the ceremony in Mirador de Taray, where a view of the entire valley will be granted.

  • Morning: Custom and Novelty. Go on a tour of the Intihuatana (sunstone) and massive terraces at Pisac Archaeological Site. Then walk through the colorful Pisac Artisan Market. The morning ends in a place called Moray, which is an old agricultural research laboratory with circular terraces that were once used as microclimate experiments.
  • Afternoon: Ingenious Wonder Works. Then, after a buffet lunch in Urubamba, go to Maras Salt Mines, where there are thousands of pre-Inca pans. The day concludes in Ollantaytambo, an inhabited Inca village. You may sightsee its giant fortress and lodge there all night, in preparation for an early departure the following morning.

Day 2: Machu Picchu by the Short Inca Trail.

You get on a train and get to the Royal Inca Path base, KM104, which is where the starting point of the trek is, and it begins at 5:30 AM.

  • The Trek – Once started at Chachabamba remains, then climbs the cloud forest for a period of three hours or more. You will arrive at Wiñay Wayna, or Forever Young, the most picturesque place on the trail, which has terraced sides that are steep.
  • The Sun Gate – Lunch, and proceed to Inti Punku (The Sun Gate) in the last hour. Then, have the first aerial sight of the breathtaking Machu Picchu fortress.
  • The Descent – Dine in Aguas Calientes after taking pictures of the sunset at the summit terraces. In the evening, board the train service and a personal transfer back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 10:00 PM.

Professional tips to follow:

  • Book train tickets and permits beforehand, particularly during the season (May to September), in order to get the best available.
  • At least one day in Cusco before the trip should be spent on acclimatization.
  • Sunscreen packs, water, snacks, a legitimate passport, and lightweight hiking equipment.
  • To be safe and in order to abide by the laws and rules of the park, select a certified tour operator.

Conclusion:

The rocks of the Sacred Valley are not new, and thus you should not wait long before you can enjoy their beauty. And regardless of whether you are a history buff, an avid photographer, or simply a hiker who goes out on the weekend, you must take this two-day trip and leave your beautiful.
